My name is Kamal Shrestha.

I am currently working with BOSCH Global Software Technology (BGSW) at Research and Technology Center (RTC) India as a Senior Applied Research Engineer since 17th August, 2023.

Major part of my work focuses on working on a high-impact projects centered on leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), open source as well as proprietary, that customize production-generated datasets and introduce interactive agents to streamline workflows, making business impacts and significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

I spend most of my time finding, implementing and trying to catchup with new and exciting technologies.

I completed my two-year Master of Technology (MTech) program offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Department at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH). I worked under the supervision of Dr. Maunendra Sankar Desarkar as part of my thesis research endeavors in collaboration with Swarajability Platform - India's First Job Portal with AI for Persons with Disabilities.

Previously, I have also worked as an Associate Machine Learning Engineer and Curriculum Engineer at Fusemachines, Nepal from July, 2020 till August 2021, under the supervision of Rojesh Man Shikhakar.

I received my undergraduate B. Tech in Computer Engineering from Kathmandu University (KU) in 2020. I had a great time working with Prof. Dr. Prakash Poudyal and Prof. Dr. Bal Krishna Bal at KU.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading books , cooking new cuisines and travelling new places.

Summarising my academic and professional career:

  1. Possess a comprehensive theoretical and practical foundation in machine learning and natural language processing, combined with hands-on experience in research and experimental design methodologies.
  2. Proficient in executing the deep learning pipeline encompassing various stages such as data analysis, data cleaning, pre-processing, model design, training, and model evaluation, primarily utilizing PyTorch, Scikitlearn (Sklearn), OpenCV, and other scientific Python libraries to achieve optimal results.
  3. Demonstrate excellent teamwork, communication, and writing skills honed through previous industry experience, research publications, poster presentations, and teaching engagements
  4. Previously worked as an Associate Machine Learning Engineer, Curriculum Engineer and a Computer Science Instructor
  5. Research Interests: Intersection of applied NLP, DL, and Classical ML Techniques
