Hello everyone,

I’m Kamal Shrestha, originally from the beautiful “Land of the Himalayas, Nepal”, and currently based in Bangalore, India, where I’ve been working for one and a half years.

— Education —

I completed my two-year Master of Technology (MTech) program offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Department at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH). I worked under the supervision of Dr. Maunendra Sankar Desarkar as part of my thesis research endeavors in collaboration with Swarajability Platform - India's First Job Portal with AI for Persons with Disabilities.

I finished my undergraduate B. Tech in Computer Engineering from Kathmandu University (KU) in 2020. I had a great time working with Prof. Dr. Prakash Poudyal and Prof. Dr. Bal Krishna Bal at KU.

— Belief/Drive —

Inspired by the saying “Pen is mightier than the sword”, I believe in the idea that language is humanity's most powerful tool as a means to share and distill knowledge across generations. This belief of mine drives my passion for exploring Machine Learning and Deep Learning primarily focused on Natural Language Processing.

— Employments —

In the same pursuit, I have been working on driven projects in NLP space since 2018 , and it continues to fuel my excitement for what technology can achieve, more so now with the age of LLMs driving the innovation. As a professional, I bring over three years of experience as a MLE, specializing in SOTA cross-domain solutions to address business needs. My expertise lies in applied NLP, with a strong focus on designing and implementing end-to-end DL pipelines.

I was recently working with BOSCH Global Software Technology (BGSW) at Research and Technology Center (RTC) India as a Senior Applied Research Engineer since 17th August, 2023 to 15th January, 2025.

Previously, I have also worked as an Associate Machine Learning Engineer and Curriculum Engineer at Fusemachines, Nepal from July, 2020 till August 2021, under the supervision of Rojesh Man Shikhakar.

— Work —

Major part of my work focuses on working on a high-impact projects centered on leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), open source as well as proprietary, that customize production-generated datasets and introduce interactive agents to streamline workflows, making business impacts and significantly enhancing operational efficiency.
I spend most of my time finding, implementing and trying to catchup with new and exciting technologies.

— Free Time —

Outside if work, I absolutely love cooking, moreso find it therapeutic. I enjoy playing all sports, love to travel, especially hiking from saddle to saddle. Fascinated with ancient history and culture. Finally, adore unwinding a busy day at work with some good movies and good food.
